Through the use of well trained volunteer tutors, and paid professional staff, the Butte Literacy Program operates a free and confidential program to provide instructional assistance to adults functioning below a 6th grade level who desire to increase their literacy skills. This includes English as a second language.
The Butte Literacy Program works to accomplish its mission through tutoring, exchanging information, networking with individuals and organizations and referrals to obtain services that complement its efforts. The program does
not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, religion, gender, age, sexual
orientation, familial status, or disability.
The Butte Literacy Program is a non-profit community based organization offering one-to-one tutoring in basic reading, writing and math skills.

All people should be able to read warning signs or labels, be able to read to their children, fill out job
applications, read a newspaper or their own bank statement.
